They came extremely close in the previous edition as they led 2-0 in the final against China PR but could not fend off the record winners' spirited fightback as they succumbed to a heartbreaking 3-2 loss. It was Korea Republic's first appearance in the final in 13 attempts and Shin's side will be determined to go all the way at Australia 2026.
