Qualifiers - Group B: Iraq 0-0 Timor-Leste

Chiang Mai: Iraq and Timor-Leste played to a goalless stalemate in their AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026™ Qualifiers Group B tie on Monday.

In a game of few chances, Iraq survived going down to 10 players in the second half to take a point.

It was a scrappy start to the match as both sides took time to adapt to the conditions at the 700th Anniversary of Chiang Mai Stadium.

Iraq captain Nadia Albalahi had the opportunity from a free-kick just outside the box in the ninth minute but couldn’t get her shot on target.

Timor-Leste’s first chance came in the 29th minute when Deonizia Natalina sent Dolores through on goal but Iraqi custodian Khalat Alzebari was quick to rush out of her box to clear the danger.

After the interval, Iraq pushed for the opener and nearly found it in the 55th minute when Hoda Hadi bore down on goal but was denied by a superb sliding challenge from Idalia Alves.

Pressure from the West Asian side came to a halt in the 71st minute when second half substitute Elaf Shareef was flashed the red card for a high foot challenge on Natacia Flora.

Despite the numerical advantage, Timor-Leste could not find the breakthrough as Iraq held on for a share of the spoils.

Iraq will next face Mongolia while Timor-Leste will play Thailand, with both matches to take place on Thursday.
