Qualifiers - Group A: Lebanon 0-4 Jordan

Amman: Jordan cruised to a 4-0 victory over Lebanon in their AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026™ Qualifiers Group A tie on Monday.

Jordan, who will next play Singapore on Sunday, joined Bhutan on three points. Lebanon will look to bounce back with victory against Bhutan on Thursday.

Jordan took the lead in the eighth minute after a lapse in concentration from the Lebanese defence allowed Rouzbahan Fraij to capitalise on the loose ball inside the box, setting up Maysa Jbarah for a low strike.

Fraij was a thorn in Lebanon’s side and the forward was once again at the forefront of Jordan’s attack when she intercepted a stray pass from Lebanon’s Dima Alkasti and then teeing up Jbarah for a composed finish.

Lebanon fell further behind in the 31st minute after Farah Abu Tayeh slipped past her marker at the edge of the area before cutting back to find Bana Al Bitar, who steered the ball home.

The second half saw Lebanon putting up a stronger performance, almost causing problems in the 57th minute when Pilar Khoury released Layla Iskandar with a through pass, but Jordanian keeper Sherin AlShalabe was quick to intervene.

However, Lebanon’s aggression left the door open for Jordan to strike on the counterattack in the 78th minute with Fraij surging into the box before setting up Abu Tayeh for a fine finish as the hosts got off to a great start to their qualifying campaign.
