Fun fact: Korea Republic have featured in every edition of the Finals since 1991

Korea Republic's EAFF E-1 triumph was their first since 2005 and it came at the best possible moment with Shin Sang-woo's determined to challenge for the AFC Women's Asian Cup title.

They came extremely close in the previous edition as they led 2-0 in the final against China PR but could not fend off the record winners' spirited fightback as they succumbed to a heartbreaking 3-2 loss.

It was Korea Republic's first appearance in the final in 13 attempts and Shin's side will be determined to go all the way at Australia 2026.

Their EAFF E-1 triumph was achieved despite the presence of China PR and Japan - who will be among the challengers for the Asian title - and Korea Republic will be further boosted by their performance against both sides.

Although the matches ended in stalemates, Korea Republic showed their quality and depth, with Shin having not just experienced players at his disposal but also rising talent.

Veteran Ji So-yun - her nation's all-time topscorer with 74 goals - remains the focal point but the likes of defender Jang Sel-gi, goalkeeper Kim Min-jung and young striker Casey Phair will also be expected to play key roles as Korea Republic look to end their wait for the coveted title.
