Gold Coast ticket allocation exhausted for Matildas v Iran as excitement builds for AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026™

The AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026™ has reached a major milestone, with the first ticket allocation for the match between Australia and IR Iran at Gold Coast Stadium on 5 March officially exhausted.

It marks the first match to reach this milestone – kicking off what’s shaping up to be a record-breaking celebration of women’s football across Australia.

Tickets are still available for the other must-see clashes at Gold Coast Stadium, with IR Iran also set to face 2022 runners-up Korea Republic on 2 March and the Philippines, one of the tournament’s most exciting teams, on 8 March. The Philippines will also meet Korea Republic in a high-profile showdown on 5 March, while the high-stakes play-off matches on 19 March will determine the final teams to secure their place at the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Strong demand has also been seen for the Matildas’ blockbuster tournament opener against the Philippines on 1 March at Perth Stadium, featuring the official Opening Ceremony. In Sydney, tickets are being snapped up for Australia’s clash with Korea Republic on 8 March at Stadium Australia, set to deliver an unforgettable International Women’s Day celebration.

Tickets for other matches, including the knockout rounds and the showpiece Final, are also selling fast, with strong demand across all three host cities of Perth, Gold Coast and Sydney as excitement builds for a tournament that will unite 12 of Asia’s top football nations – Australia, Bangladesh, China PR, Chinese Taipei, DPR Korea, India, IR Iran, Japan, Korea Republic, Philippines, Vietnam and Uzbekistan – for 27 matches of world-class football action from 1–21 March.

With tickets starting from just $20 for adults and $10 for children, fans are urged to secure their seats now before the next sell-out.

In the wake of the ticket sales, Chief Operating Officer of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026™ Local Organising Committee, Sarah Walsh, praised the passion for women's football in Australia.

“The response from fans has been phenomenal. To see the first ticket allocation exhausted already shows the incredible passion for women’s football and what this tournament means to Australians. Momentum is building right across the country, and this is just the beginning -we know this will be a record-breaking tournament. Every match will showcase Asia’s best players, world-class football and unforgettable atmospheres, so we’re encouraging fans to get in early while great seats are still available.”
